About Emily
My dog training journey started many years ago, but really took off following the completion of my BSc (Hons) degree in Animal Behaviour and Welfare from Harper Adams University.
Teaching people and their dogs how to connect and communicate effectively is one of my greatest passions.
I previously worked with Dogs Trust Dog School as a Coach, and now work with Guide Dogs in the North West of England to help produce assistance dogs with life-changing skills.
As well my degree, I am also a full APDT member, a Candidate Member of FABC and regularly attend a variety of CPD events to continue to improve my knowledge.
About Riker
We couldn't go far without mentioning our unofficial mascot, Riker (A Star Trek reference, for those interested!).
Riker is my own Labrador Retriever that I had from a puppy, and is the ultimate reason for Emily's Perfect Pups coming to be. Because, well, Riker was not a perfect pup at all!
From the beginning, he struggled with the basic goings on of daily life, which led to our own revolving door of vets, trainers, behaviourists, and vet behaviourists. Not cheap!
Figuring out how to help your own dog is tough - even for a professional! It's a bit like a therapist trying to give themselves therapy. So I enlisted the help of a variety of others, with mixed results.
Having gone through it all myself, I wish I'd had someone show me the way from the beginning, and truly believe me when I would say how much I was struggling!
Despite multiple close calls on being rehomed, Riker is finally receiving the help he needs, and he gets better every day!
